Which is better for the gym?

The Sony WH-CH520, because it is wireless and has no cable to snag. It has no water or dust rating, though, so keep it away from heavy sweat and rain.

The ATH-M20x has the more neutral, studio-tuned sound and a larger 40 mm driver. The Sony is balanced for the price and lets you adjust EQ in its app.

The Sony runs up to 50 hours per charge and its battery will degrade over years of use. The ATH-M20x has no battery, so its cable and pads are the parts that wear out.

Is the Sony worth it at $25?

Yes. At $25.00 at eBay as of November 5, 2026, it is less than half the ATH-M20x price and adds wireless, a microphone and app EQ.

Can I take calls on the ATH-M20x?

No. It has no microphone or inline controls, so calls need a separate mic or a different headset.

Which is better for video editing?

The ATH-M20x. Its wired connection has no Bluetooth delay, so audio stays in sync with the picture.
