Is the Moto G Play 2023 worth buying?

At $39.99 at eBay as of November 7, 2026, it is worth it as a basic phone for calls, texts, maps and light apps. Do not expect smooth multitasking or good low-light photos.

No. The Moto G Play 2023 is a 4G LTE phone; the 5G in some listings is wrong. Check the model number before buying if 5G matters.

Can I add more storage?

Yes. It has a microSD slot, and a card is close to required given the 32GB of internal storage.

Is it locked to T-Mobile?

This is a T-Mobile prepaid model, so it is tied to T-Mobile service and its unlock policy. Confirm the unlock terms with the seller before buying.

How does it compare to the Moto G Power?

The G Power has more RAM, more storage and a bigger battery for more money. The G Play is the cheaper pick for very light use.

Prepaid entry phones like this drop lowest around Black Friday and back-to-school sales. Its current $39.99 is already near the floor for a new unit.
