Questions and answers

Is the Tapo C425 worth it as a four-pack?

At $199.96 at TP-Link Tapo as of November 8, 2026, it is about $50 per camera for 2K video, a 150° view and no required subscription. That is strong value if you need several outdoor cameras and can live with battery-camera recording limits.

Do I need a subscription to use it?

No. It records to a microSD card up to 512GB, which you buy separately. Tapo Care adds cloud storage and richer notifications if you want them.

How long does the battery last?

TP-Link rates the 10,000 mAh battery at up to 300 days. Real use is shorter in busy areas with frequent motion triggers, so expect to recharge a few times a year on a driveway or busy door.

Does it work with Alexa and Google Assistant?

Yes. It supports both, so you can pull up the live feed on a compatible smart display or speaker. Recording and settings are handled in the Tapo app.

Can it be used indoors?

Yes. It is rated for indoor and outdoor use, though the four-pack is usually bought for outdoor coverage. Indoors, the spotlight and motion alerts may need tuning to avoid false triggers.

When is it cheapest?

The best new price tracked is $199.96 at TP-Link Tapo as of November 8, 2026, with two stores listing it new. Four-packs tend to drop around Black Friday and Prime Day, so compare per-camera prices then.
