Is the Wansview 2K Solar Camera worth it at $39.99?

At $39.99 at Walmart as of November 5, 2026, it is a cheap way to get 2K video, a spotlight and solar charging. Expect event-triggered clips rather than 24/7 recording, and plan on 2.4GHz Wi-Fi.

Does it need a subscription?

No. It records to a microSD card, which you buy separately, and live view works without a plan. Wansview's cloud storage is optional and adds cost.

How long does the battery last on solar?

With a few hours of direct sun a day, the panel usually keeps the battery topped up under normal motion traffic. Heavy alerts or long cloudy stretches will drain it faster, and you can recharge it by USB.

Does it work with Google Home or Alexa?

It supports Google Home for live viewing. Alexa is not listed, so check the app before buying if that matters to you.

Can it record continuously?

No. It records when motion or PIR triggers it, not around the clock. For continuous recording you need a wired camera or an NVR.

You get the camera with its built-in solar panel, a wall mount and mounting screws. A microSD card is not included, so add one if you want local storage.
