About the Xanapon 13-Piece German Stainless Steel Kitchen Knife Set with Sharpener

The Xanapon 13-Piece Knife Set is a budget knife block built around high-carbon German stainless steel blades, a built-in sharpener and a set of steak knives. It covers the core kitchen tasks: an 8-inch chef knife, slicing and serrated bread knives, a utility knife, a paring knife, six 4.5-inch serrated steak knives and kitchen shears. The block sharpens blades as they slide in and out, so you don't need a separate honing tool. At $29.99 at Walmart as of November 5, 2026, it sits at the low end of what a full block set costs, and it is the only new price listed.

  • German-steel claim is a marketing label; hardness and edge retention are unknown
  • Dishwasher cycles dull and pit most steel, even when rated safe
  • Serrated steak knives can't be resharpened by the block
  • Block takes counter space and the slots limit what you can add
  • Budget sets often have handle and bolster gaps that collect water

What reviewers say

Complaints are the usual ones for cheap sets, mostly about edge holding and the dishwasher dulling blades.

Questions and answers

Is the Xanapon knife set worth it?
At $29.99 at Walmart as of November 5, 2026, it is a cheap way to get a full block with a sharpener. Expect budget-level edge holding, not chef-knife performance.
Are the blades really German stainless steel?
The listing says high-carbon German stainless steel, which usually means steel made to a German specification, not knives made in Germany. The set is a budget import.
Can I put these knives in the dishwasher?
The set is listed as dishwasher safe, but hand washing and drying keeps edges sharper longer and avoids spots and pitting.
Does the built-in sharpener work on the steak knives?
No. The block sharpener is for straight-edge knives. Serrated steak and bread knives need a rod or a serrated sharpener.
What comes in the box?
An 8-inch chef knife, 8-inch slicing knife, 8-inch serrated bread knife, 5-inch utility knife, 3.5-inch paring knife, six 4.5-inch serrated steak knives, kitchen shears and the sharpening block.
When is it cheapest?
It is $29.99 at Walmart as of November 5, 2026, and only one store lists a new price. Watch for holiday kitchen sales for a lower price.
