Is the Asus Chromebook Plus CX34 worth it?

Yes, if your work happens in a browser and Android apps. You get 8GB of memory, 256GB of storage, a touchscreen and a 1080p webcam, and at $479.00 it is at its lowest recent price.

How does it compare with the older Chromebook CX34?

The Plus model adds faster LPDDR5 memory, a 1080p webcam and ChromeOS Plus features such as Google AI writing tools. The older model is cheaper but has a lower-resolution camera and slower memory.

How long does the battery last?

Asus rates it at about 10 hours. Real-world use with video and many tabs usually lands closer to 7 to 9 hours, and the 250-nit screen at full brightness drains it faster.

Can I upgrade the RAM or storage?

No. The 8GB of memory is soldered on board, and storage is fixed at 256GB. Plan on cloud storage or an external drive for large files.

Does it run Windows apps?

No. It runs ChromeOS, so you use web apps, Android apps from the Play Store and Linux apps. Windows and macOS desktop software will not install.

Its lowest recent price was $479.00 on October 29, 2026, against a high of $679.99 on October 30, 2026. Watch for drops around back-to-school and holiday sales.
