Questions and answers

Is $495 a good price for this Tumi carry-on?

Yes. Tumi expandable carry-ons usually sell new for well over $600, so $495 at eBay as of November 4, 2026 is a low price for a new one. Check that the listing is for a new, full-warranty bag.

Does it fit in overhead bins?

At 22 inches it fits most major US carriers' overhead bins, but a few strict international airlines cap carry-ons at 21 inches. Measure the bag and check your airline's limit before you fly.

How much extra space does the expansion add?

The expansion zipper adds roughly 2 inches of depth, enough for a few days of extra clothing or a pair of shoes. Pack it fully expanded only when you are not worried about fitting it in the overhead.

Is it worth it over a hard-shell carry-on?

Choose this if you want a flexible soft shell that squeezes into tight bins and expands. A hard-shell bag protects fragile items better and is usually lighter, but it does not expand.

What is covered by the warranty?

Tumi covers manufacturing defects on its luggage, and many bags can be registered for extended coverage. Damage from airlines is generally not covered, so check the terms for this model.
