Is the DCK420D2 worth it over buying tools separately?

The kit usually costs less than the four tools and two batteries bought individually, and it adds a charger and bag. At $469.92 at Home Depot as of November 4, 2026, compare against the brushless XR combo kits before deciding.

What tools are actually in the box?

The listing names a DCS381 reciprocating saw and a DCL040 LED work light alongside the drill/driver, with two 20V batteries, a charger and a contractor bag. Confirm the fourth tool with the retailer before ordering.

How does it compare with DeWalt's brushless XR kits?

XR kits use brushless motors for more runtime and power per charge and often include a hammer drill. This kit is brushed, so it is cheaper but less efficient for heavy daily use.

Are the batteries compatible with other DeWalt 20V tools?

Yes. The 20V Max lithium-ion batteries work across DeWalt's 20V Max line, including XR tools, so the kit is a reasonable entry into the platform.

When is this kit cheapest?

DeWalt combo kits typically drop during holiday sales and spring contractor events. At $469.92 as of November 4, 2026 it is near its recent high, so waiting for a promotion is reasonable.
