Our take on the 2X 5CH Audio Distributor Stereo Audio Mixer 1 Input 5 Output Splitter for Power Amplifier Active Audio,2 x Tone Controller,Black

This is a passive-style stereo audio splitter that takes one line-level input and feeds five outputs, with two tone controls on board. It is rated 20 Hz to 20 kHz at 600 ohm and comes in black with no written warranty. It suits splitting a source to several power amps or active speakers, not for boosting weak signals. No current price was provided, so check the live comparison for where it sits against its recent range.

Best for
Feeding one source to several power amps or active speakers
Home or shop installs where a small tone tweak is wanted
Budget setups that don't need gain or balanced I/O
Pros
  • One input to five outputs covers multi-zone or multi-amp setups
  • Two tone controls let you trim the sound at the splitter
  • Full 20 Hz–20 kHz range suits line-level audio
  • 600 ohm rating matches typical line inputs
  • Compact black metal-style box, easy to tuck behind gear
Cons
  • Passive splitting divides signal, so each output gets less level
  • No written warranty from an unbranded maker
  • Unbalanced RCA-style connections pick up noise on long runs
  • No gain, so weak sources may need a preamp
  • No level control per output

Questions and answers

Is it worth it?
If you need to feed several amps or active speakers from one line-level source and don't need gain, it covers that job cheaply. If you need level boost or balanced outputs, spend more on an active distribution amp.
Will splitting to five outputs lower the volume?
Yes. A passive split divides the signal, so each output is weaker than the source alone. Using fewer outputs keeps more level, and a preamp or active splitter fixes it.
Does it work with a turntable?
No. A turntable needs a phono preamp first, because its output is far below line level and needs RIAA equalization. Feed this box from the phono stage's line output instead.
What cables do I need?
You need one cable from your source to the input and up to five cables from the outputs to your amps or speakers. Match the connector type on the unit, and keep runs short to limit noise.
Can I control the volume of each output separately?
No. The two tone controls shape the sound, but there is no per-output level control. Set levels on each amplifier or active speaker.
When is it cheapest?
Small unbranded audio accessories usually dip during general sales events and back-to-school periods. Check the price history on this page before buying.
