Our take on the 42.32" Vintage Carved MGO Electric Fireplace Mantel with 23" Insert

A freestanding electric fireplace with a carved, vintage-style mantel in black, 42.32 inches wide and 36.4 inches tall, with a 23-inch insert rated at 4,810 BTU. It gives a room a traditional focal point without a chimney or gas line, and the mantel top can hold decor. The best new price is $699.99 at Target as of November 5, 2026, and only one store lists it new, so there is no cheaper alternative to compare against right now.

Questions and answers

Is $699.99 a good price for this fireplace?
It is the only new price listed, $699.99 at Target as of November 5, 2026, so there is nothing cheaper to compare it to. Comparable carved-mantel electric fireplaces often sell for $500 to $900, so it sits mid-range.
How much space does it heat?
The 4,810 BTU insert is meant for supplemental heat in one room, roughly 400 square feet in a well-insulated space. It will not replace a furnace in cold weather.
Does it need venting or a gas line?
No. It runs on a standard household outlet, so you can place it against any wall with a nearby plug.
What are the dimensions?
It is 42.32 inches wide, 36.4 inches tall and 11.81 inches deep, with a 23-inch insert. Measure your wall and doorway before ordering, since the mantel is heavy.
What is the mantel made of?
The mantel is MGO, magnesium oxide board, a dense mineral material that mimics carved wood or stone. It is heavier and more brittle than wood, so move it with care.
When is it cheapest?
Fireplaces usually discount in late winter and early spring, after the heating season. With only one store listing it, watch that listing for markdowns rather than expecting cross-store competition.
Where is the 42.32" Vintage Carved MGO Electric Fireplace Mantel with 23" Insert cheapest?
At Target, for $699.99, as of our latest check.
Where can I buy the 42.32" Vintage Carved MGO Electric Fireplace Mantel with 23" Insert?
