Is the Dimplex Revillusion 42 worth it?

If you want a built-in fireplace look without a chimney or gas line, it is one of the more realistic electric options. At $1,539.99 at ElectricFireplacesDirect.com as of November 5, 2026, it costs more than freestanding units, so the value is in the built-in finish.

How much space does it heat?

Dimplex rates it for up to 1,000 square feet at 4,436 BTU. That is supplemental heat for a room, not a replacement for a furnace.

Can I run the flames without heat?

Yes. The flame effect runs independently of the heater, so you can use it for ambiance in any season.

Does it need venting or a gas line?

No. It is all-electric and plugs in, but it does need a framed opening sized for a 42-inch built-in firebox.

The firebox, the flame-effect insert, and the remote control. Framing materials and finishing trim are not included.
