Is the Acer Aspire 5 15 (2024) worth it at $764?

At $764 at Amazon as of November 4, 2026, it is fair for a 15.6-inch laptop with a 512 GB SSD and fingerprint login, but not a bargain. Comparable AMD laptops with 16 GB RAM often sell near this price, so compare before buying.

Can I upgrade the RAM and storage?

Yes. It ships with 8 GB and supports up to 16 GB, and the 512 GB SSD can be swapped for a larger drive. Both are accessible through the bottom panel.

Is it good for gaming?

Only for light and older titles. The AMD integrated GPU and 60Hz screen handle casual games and esports at low settings, not modern AAA games.

Does it have Ethernet and a fingerprint reader?

Yes to both. There is a full Ethernet port for wired networks and a fingerprint scanner for Windows Hello sign-in.

What comes in the box?

The laptop, its power adapter and the standard paperwork. A mouse and sleeve are not included.

When is the best time to buy it?

The tracked price has been flat at $764 since November 3, 2026, with only one store listing it. Watch for Black Friday and back-to-school sales, when Acer laptops usually drop.

Our take on the Acer Aspire 5 15 (2024)

The Aspire 5 15 is Acer's mainstream 15.6-inch laptop, here in a 2024 AMD configuration: quad-core Ryzen-class CPU, Radeon integrated graphics, 8 GB RAM, a 512 GB SSD and a matte 1080p 60Hz screen. It covers the basics well for the money: fingerprint login, an Ethernet port and a 4.2 lb body. The best new price is $764 at Amazon as of November 4, 2026, and it is the only new price tracked, so there is no cheaper recent low to wait for.
