Does the AcuRite 00638 measure rain or barometric pressure?

No. It covers temperature, humidity, dew point, wind speed and direction, moon phase, date and time. Rain and pressure need a different model.

How far can the outdoor sensor be from the display?

AcuRite rates the wireless range at up to 330 ft. Walls and metal siding cut that range, so place the sensor with a clear line to the display.

What batteries does it take?

It uses 7 AA batteries across the display and sensor. Use lithium AAs in the outdoor sensor if winters are cold.

Is the display indoor only?

Yes. The display is meant for indoor use, and the wind sensor and outdoor readings come from the wireless sensor mounted outside.

Is $98.99 a good price?

Only one store lists it new at $98.99 as of November 7, 2026, so there is no lower price to compare against. Check whether a newer AcuRite model with pressure and rain costs about the same.

Where is the AcuRite 00638 cheapest?
