Our take on the Adam's Polishes 9mm Dual Action Car Polisher

The Adam's Polishes 9mm Dual Action Polisher is a corded 9-amp machine with a 9mm orbit, variable speed from 2,500 to 6,500 OPM, and a 5-inch backing plate. It is aimed at beginners: the short throw is forgiving, and the concave rubber grip points are designed to soak up vibration. The 16-foot cord and 1,000-watt motor give it enough reach and power for full-panel work. At $119.99 at WoodArtSupply as of November 5, 2026, it sits at the low end of its recent range, with 2 stores listing it new.

Questions and answers

Is this a good first polisher?
Yes. The 9mm orbit and variable speed make it forgiving for new users, and the rubber grip points help control vibration. Expect to spend more passes on heavy defects than you would with a long-throw machine.
What is the difference between 9mm and long-throw polishers?
A 9mm orbit moves the pad less per rotation, so it cuts more slowly but is easier to keep flat and safe on edges. Long-throw tools (15mm and up) correct faster but demand more skill.
What pads fit the 5-inch backing plate?
Use 5-inch backing-plate pads, typically 5.5-inch polishing pads. The tool ships with the backing plate only, so pads and polish are bought separately.
Does it come with pads or polish?
No. The box includes the polisher and 5-inch backing plate. You need to add pads, compound and polish to start correcting paint.
Is the cord long enough to work around a car?
The 16-foot cord gives good reach around most cars. For larger vehicles or distant outlets, a short heavy-gauge extension cord is still useful.
When is the best time to buy it?
At $119.99 at WoodArtSupply as of November 5, 2026, it is at the low end of its recent range. Detailing tools often drop during holiday and spring sales, so compare against that price before buying.
Where is the Adam's Polishes 9mm Dual Action Car Polisher cheapest?
