Does this bed need a box spring?

No. It is a platform bed, so a full mattress rests directly on the frame. A box spring would add unnecessary height.

What mattress size fits it?

It takes a standard full mattress, about 54 by 75 inches. Check that your mattress is a full, not a full XL.

Is it solid wood or particleboard?

AFI lists it as solid wood with a white finish. Solid wood frames generally hold screws better and last longer than particleboard.

Is $426.88 a good price?

It is the only new price we have as of November 7, 2026, at The Home Depot, so there is no recent range to judge it against. Compare it with other solid wood full platform beds before buying.

Does it include a headboard?

No. This is the platform frame itself. A headboard would be a separate purchase.

How hard is assembly?

Plan for a two-person job. Solid wood parts are heavy, and the frame needs to be squared up before the final tightening.

Where is the AFI White Solid Wood Full Platform cheapest?

At The Home Depot, for $426.88, as of our latest check.
