Is the Altair 6-inch mattress good for adults?

It is best for children, guests and occasional use. Most adults, especially side sleepers or anyone over about 200 pounds, will want a thicker mattress with more comfort foam.

Does it need a box spring?

A box spring or foundation is not included and is sold separately. You can also place it on a slatted frame, platform bed or adjustable base.

Is it hot to sleep on?

The gel infusion and Tencel cover are meant to reduce heat buildup compared with plain memory foam. With only 1 inch of memory foam, most sleepers should not find it overly warm.

What sizes does it come in?

This listing is the Twin. The Altair Collection is sold in other sizes, so check the size before ordering if you need Full, Queen or King.

Is $199 a good price?

It is the best new price among the 3 stores listing it as of November 4, 2026. There is no long price history to compare against, so treat $199 as the current benchmark rather than a proven low.

How long is the warranty?

One year from the manufacturer. That is shorter than the 10-year coverage typical of thicker foam mattresses.

Our take on the Altair 6" Gel Memory Foam Mattress

The Altair 6-inch Gel Memory Foam Mattress is a thin, two-layer foam mattress: 1 inch of gel-infused memory foam over 5 inches of high-density base foam, wrapped in a Tencel-blend cover. At 6 inches it is a low-profile mattress, so it suits bunk beds, trundles, guest rooms and kids' rooms more than a primary adult bed. The best new price is $199 at Expo Furniture Gallery as of November 4, 2026, with 3 stores listing it new.
