Is this TV worth it over a 4K model?

If you sit close or want the sharpest picture, a 4K set is worth the extra money. For a bedroom or kitchen where you watch from a few feet away, 1080p at this price is fine.

Does it need a streaming stick?

No. Fire TV is built in, and the included Alexa Voice Remote handles apps and voice search. You only need Wi-Fi and your streaming subscriptions.

It accepts HDR10 and HLG signals, but the panel's brightness is limited, so the effect is subtle. It does not support Dolby Vision.

Can I use it with a soundbar or headphones?

Yes. It has HDMI and Bluetooth, so you can pair Bluetooth headphones or speakers, or connect a soundbar over HDMI.

Our take on the Amazon Fire TV 40" 2-Series HD Smart TV

The Amazon Fire TV 2-Series is a 40-inch 1080p LED TV built around Amazon's Fire TV platform and the Alexa Voice Remote. It covers the basics for a secondary room: HDR10 and HLG support, Dolby Digital audio, Bluetooth, HDMI, and built-in apps for Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+, YouTube, and free services like Tubi and Pluto TV. It is a 1080p set, not 4K, so it suits bedrooms, kitchens, and dorms more than a main living-room screen. The best new price is $137.00 at eBay as of November 3, 2026, with 3 stores listing it new.
