Is the Kindle Keyboard still worth buying?

Only as a cheap second reader for text. It is discontinued, gets no updates, and its 3G may not work, so most shoppers are better served by a current Kindle.

Does the 3G still work?

Often not. Carriers have been shutting down 3G networks, so the free cellular feature is unreliable in many areas. Wi-Fi syncing still works if the device connects.

Can I read at night without a light?

No. The E Ink screen has no front light, so you need a lamp or external light to read in the dark.

A refurbished Kindle Keyboard in grey, a USB cable, and a power adapter. Books are not included.

How much storage does it have?

4 GB total, with about 3 GB available to you. That holds thousands of books, though PDFs and audio take more space.

Is $159 a good price?

No. That is far above the typical $40 to $90 for used and refurbished units, so compare other stores before buying.

Our take on the Amazon Kindle Keyboard with Wi-Fi + 3G

The Amazon Kindle Keyboard with Wi-Fi + 3G is a third-generation Kindle e-reader with a 6-inch 600 x 800 E Ink screen, a physical keyboard, and free cellular access for downloading books without Wi-Fi. It holds about 3 GB of user storage, plays audio through stereo speakers or a headphone jack, and supports text-to-speech. It is long discontinued, so listings are refurbished units; the latest price is $159 at Distritech as of November 3, well above the roughly $40 to $90 that used and refurbished units typically fetch.
