Does the Beldale daybed need a box spring?

No. Slats are included, so a mattress sits directly on the frame. A standard twin mattress is the right size.

What mattress size fits it?

A twin mattress. The frame is about 42.3'' wide, which leaves little room for anything larger.

Assembly is required and most owners say it takes an hour or more with two people. Having a second person helps with the headboard and side panels.

Can it be used as a sofa every day?

Yes, that is the point of a daybed. The upholstered headboard gives back support when seated, though it is firmer than a couch.

Is it good for a small apartment?

It suits small spaces because one piece covers seating and sleeping. Check the 80.9'' length against your wall before buying.
