Questions and answers

Is the Antarctic Star 26-lb ice maker worth it?

At $69.99 at Lowe's as of November 3, 2026, it is a cheap way to get bullet ice without a plumbed machine. It suits light use for one or two people, not a busy household that needs ice all day.

How much ice does it make and how fast?

It is rated for up to 26 pounds of bullet ice per day. Bullet ice comes out in small batches, so expect to refill the bin through the day rather than get a full day's output at once.

Does it need a water line?

No. It is a countertop unit you fill by hand, which is why it can move from kitchen to patio or RV. You will need to top up the water reservoir and empty the bin as ice melts.

How big is it and where can it go?

It measures 8.66 inches wide, 11.22 inches high and 10.39 inches deep. That fits on most counters, but leave clearance around the vents and keep it near an outlet.

What kind of ice does it make?

It makes bullet ice, the soft, chewable style common in portable makers. It is fine for drinks, but it melts faster than freezer cube ice.

When is the best time to buy it?

Only one store lists it new, so discounts are rare and the price is unlikely to move much. Watch for seasonal sales at Lowe's rather than waiting for a broad price drop.

Where is the Antarctic Star 26-lb Bullet Ice Maker cheapest?

At Lowe's, for $69.99, as of our latest check.
