Is the MacBook Neo 13" worth it at $599?

At $599 at UCLA Store as of November 4, 2026, it is a low entry point into a current Apple laptop. It suits light work and study; heavy creative work needs more RAM and storage.

How does it compare to the MacBook Air?

The Neo is lighter at 2.7 lb and uses the A18 Pro chip rather than an M-series chip. The Air offers larger screens and more configuration options; the Neo is the cheaper, smaller pick.

Is 8 GB of RAM enough?

For browsing, email, video and documents, yes. Running many apps at once or editing photos and video will feel tight, and the RAM cannot be upgraded later.

How long does the battery last?

Apple rates it at up to 16 hours. Real-world use with video and browsing typically lands below that, but it should cover a full day away from a charger.

What comes in the box?

The laptop and a USB-C charging cable. Check the listing for whether a power adapter is included, since Apple has shipped some models without one.

The lowest new price seen is $599.00 at UCLA Store as of November 4, 2026. Back-to-school season and November sales are the usual windows for deeper discounts.
