Our take on the Apple Watch Nike Series 5 GPS 40mm Aluminum Case

The Apple Watch Nike Series 5 is a 40mm aluminum GPS smartwatch with an always-on Retina display, built-in GPS, heart-rate tracking, and watchOS. The Nike version adds Nike watch faces and the Nike Run Club app, but the hardware is the same as the standard Series 5. It is a 2019 model, so it lacks the newer sensors and faster chips of later Series. At $179 at Walmart as of November 4, 2026, it sits well below what the Series 5 originally sold for, though it is an older watch at this point.

  • 40mm case is small for larger wrists

Questions and answers

Is the Apple Watch Series 5 still worth buying in 2026?
At $179 it is a cheap way into Apple Watch with an always-on display and GPS. It is a 2019 model, so expect an older chip, about 18 hours of battery, and no blood oxygen sensor. Buy it as a budget pick, not a long-term one.
What is different about the Nike version?
Only the software extras: exclusive Nike watch faces and the Nike Run Club app. The case, display, sensors, and battery are identical to the standard Series 5.
How long does the battery last?
Apple rates it at about 18 hours of mixed use, so most owners charge it nightly. Workouts with GPS drain it faster.
Does it work with Android phones?
No. Apple Watch requires an iPhone running a recent version of iOS to set up and use.
What comes in the box?
The watch, a magnetic charging cable, and a Nike sport band. It does not include a power adapter.
Is the 40mm case too small?
It suits wrists under about 170mm well. If you have a larger wrist or prefer a bigger screen, the 44mm version is the better fit.
Where is the Apple Watch Nike Series 5 GPS 40mm Aluminum Case cheapest?
At Walmart, for $179.00, as of our latest check.
What do buyers say about the Apple Watch Nike Series 5 GPS 40mm Aluminum Case?
Rated 4.9 out of 5 from 17 ratings.
Where can I buy the Apple Watch Nike Series 5 GPS 40mm Aluminum Case?
