Is the Apple Watch SE (2nd generation) worth it?

For iPhone owners who want core Apple Watch features at the lowest price, yes. You give up the always-on display, ECG and blood oxygen sensing, but keep fitness tracking, safety alerts and the full app store.

How is it different from the Series 8 or Series 9?

The SE lacks the always-on display, ECG, blood oxygen sensor and temperature sensing of the Series 8 and 9. It uses the same case shape and band system, so bands are interchangeable.

How long does the battery last?

Apple rates it at up to 18 hours of normal use, and most owners charge it nightly. Sleep tracking works if you charge it during the day or before bed.

Does it work with Android phones?

No. The Apple Watch SE requires an iPhone running a recent version of iOS to set up and use.

Is the 40mm size good for women or smaller wrists?

Yes. The 40mm case is the smaller of the two SE sizes and fits wrists around 130 to 200mm with the standard bands.

What comes in the box?

The watch case, a matching band and a magnetic charging cable. A USB power adapter is not included.

Our take on the Apple Watch SE (2nd generation)

The Apple Watch SE (2nd generation) is Apple's entry-level smartwatch, with a 40mm aluminum case, a Retina display, GPS, heart-rate and sleep tracking, crash and fall detection, and watchOS. It runs the same core apps and fitness features as pricier Apple Watches but skips the always-on display, blood oxygen sensing and ECG. The best new price is $248.04 at Amazon as of November 8, 2026, and only one store lists it new, so there is little price competition to shop around.
