Our take on the Arc'teryx Men's Konseal 9" Shorts

The Arc'teryx Konseal 9" Shorts are men's climbing and hiking shorts with a relaxed fit and an active cut that keeps the legs free on high steps. The 9-inch inseam hits just above the knee, and the fabric is built to stretch and dry fast on long days out. The best new price is $111.93 at REI as of November 5, 2026, and only one store lists them new, so there is little discounting to shop around for.

Questions and answers

Are the Konseal 9" Shorts worth the price?
If you climb or hike often, the stretch and durable fabric justify the cost over cheap shorts. At $111.93 at REI as of November 5, 2026, they are still a premium buy, so casual wearers may not get the value.
How does the relaxed fit run?
The fit is relaxed and roomy through the hip and thigh, with an active cut for high steps. If you are between sizes or want a trimmer look, consider sizing down.
What is the inseam and where does it sit?
The inseam is 9 inches, which lands just above the knee on most men. That length clears harnesses and knee pads without riding up.
Are they good for climbing or just hiking?
They are designed for both. The gusseted, stretchy cut is the main reason climbers like them, and the quick-drying fabric works for hiking and travel too.
When is the best time to buy them?
Only one store lists them new, at $111.93 at REI as of November 5, 2026, so discounts are rare. Watch for end-of-season sales on past colors rather than expecting a big markdown.
Where is the Arc'teryx Men's Konseal 9" Shorts cheapest?
At REI, for $111.93, as of our latest check.
What do buyers say about the Arc'teryx Men's Konseal 9" Shorts?
Rated 5 out of 5 from 16 ratings.
