Questions and answers

Is the Platinum 30 SHO worth it over the standard Platinum 30?
The SHO adds a larger 414 cc engine and a faster impeller for wet, heavy snow. If your snow is usually light and dry, the standard Platinum is enough. For deep, wet or plowed snow, the SHO's extra power is the reason to pay more.
How does it compare with a 24-inch two-stage blower?
The 30-inch width cuts fewer passes on wide driveways but is harder to fit through narrow gates and walks. The 274 lb weight also makes a 24-inch model easier to push and store.
Does it have electric start?
Yes. It has electric start, so you plug in and press a button instead of pulling the cord in cold weather.
What is included with the snow blower?
Heated handgrips are standard. Check the listing for the battery or cord needed for electric start and for any drift cutters or covers.
When is it cheapest?
Two-stage blowers usually discount in late winter and early spring as dealers clear stock. The best new price was $2,499 at Boyd's Outdoor Power as of November 3, 2026.
