Our take on the Ashley Casselbury Oversized Swivel Accent Chair

The Ashley Casselbury is an oversized barrel accent chair in gray velvet on a wood frame, with a full swivel base. At 56 inches wide and 39 inches high, it is built as a room-anchoring piece rather than a tucked-in side chair. The swivel lets it turn toward a TV, a conversation group or a window without moving the base. It earns 4.7 out of 5 from 46 ratings, so owner feedback is limited but positive.

Pros
  • Full swivel base adds easy movement in a fixed spot
  • Oversized 56-inch width gives room to curl up or share
  • Velvet upholstery in gray suits most neutral palettes
  • Barrel back wraps the sitter and looks substantial from behind
  • Wood frame construction under the upholstery
Cons
  • 56-inch width needs real floor space and a wide doorway to deliver
  • Velvet shows crushing, lint and pet hair more than woven fabrics
  • Light gray velvet is less forgiving of spills and marks
  • One large piece limits layout options in small rooms
  • Swivel base can be hard on rugs and may mark bare floors

Questions and answers

Is the Casselbury chair worth it?
If you have the floor space and want one big, comfortable swivel seat, it fits that job well and holds a 4.7 out of 5 rating from 46 ratings. In a small room, the 56-inch width is the main reason to look elsewhere.
How big is it really?
It measures 56 inches wide and 39 inches high, so it is wider than most accent chairs and closer to a small loveseat in footprint. Measure your doorway and the clear floor area before ordering.
Does it swivel a full 360 degrees?
Yes, the base is a swivel, so the chair turns freely in place. That makes it easy to face a TV, a window or guests without dragging the chair.
Is velvet a good choice for pets and kids?
Velvet is soft and dense, but it collects pet hair and shows crushed marks and spills. In a busy household, plan on regular brushing and quick spot cleaning.
What is the frame made of?
The frame is wood under the velvet upholstery. That is a solid base for a chair this size, though the seat cushion and swivel mechanism are the parts to check on arrival.
When is the best time to buy it?
Furniture discounts cluster around holiday sales and end-of-season clearances, and Ashley pieces often drop then. Compare the current price against its recent range before buying.
What do buyers say about the Ashley Casselbury Oversized Swivel Accent Chair?
Rated 4.7 out of 5 from 46 ratings.
