Our take on the Ashthorpe Full-Size Cutaway Thinline Acoustic-Electric Guitar Package

The Ashthorpe Full-Size Cutaway Thinline is a slim, budget acoustic-electric with a spruce top, basswood back and sides, and a built-in pickup for plugging into an amp or PA. The thin body and cutaway make it easy to hold and reach the upper frets, and it comes as a package with extras rather than a bare guitar. At $119.99 at Best Buy as of November 7, 2026, it sits at the low end of its recent range, so this is a good moment to buy if the slim body suits you.

Questions and answers

Is this a good guitar for a beginner?
Yes, it is a low-cost way to start. The slim body is comfortable, and the package means you can play right away. Budget for a setup by a tech to improve action.
Does it need an amp to be heard?
No. It works as an acoustic guitar unplugged, though the thin body projects less than a full-depth dreadnought. The pickup is for plugging into an amp or PA.
What is included in the package?
The package typically includes the guitar plus basic accessories such as a gig bag, picks, strap and cable. Exact contents vary by listing, so check before buying.
How does the thinline body compare with a full-size acoustic?
It is slimmer and lighter, which is easier on the shoulder and for seated playing. The trade-off is less acoustic volume and bass than a full-depth body.
Is $119.99 a good price?
At $119.99 at Best Buy as of November 7, 2026, it is at the low end of its recent range across the three stores that price it new. That makes it a fair buy if the slim body fits your needs.
What strings does it use?
It ships with phosphor bronze strings on a 25.5-inch scale. Standard light acoustic strings are a safe replacement.
Where is the Ashthorpe Full-Size Cutaway Thinline Acoustic-Electric Guitar Package cheapest?
At Best Buy, for $119.99, as of our latest check.
What do buyers say about the Ashthorpe Full-Size Cutaway Thinline Acoustic-Electric Guitar Package?
