Do I need a box spring with this bed?

No. It comes with slats, so a mattress can sit directly on the frame. A box spring would only add height.

Is the headboard comfortable to lean against?

The headboard is upholstered with wingback sides, so it is softer than a metal headboard. Padding on budget beds is usually thin, so expect light cushioning rather than plush support.

What mattress size fits it?

It is a king frame, so use a king mattress. Check the inner frame dimensions before buying if your mattress runs large.

Is $125.61 a good price?

That is low for a king upholstered bed with a headboard. Only one store lists it new at that price as of November 6, 2026, so there is little to compare against.

How hard is assembly?

Expect to build the metal frame and attach the headboard and slats. Two people make it easier, and you will need a screwdriver or hex key.

Our take on the Asofer King Bed Frame with Upholstered Wingback Headboard

The Asofer King Bed Frame is a box-spring platform bed with a metal frame, slats and an upholstered wingback headboard. The wingback headboard gives it a taller, more finished look than a plain metal frame, and the slats mean you can skip a box spring. At $125.61 at Walmart as of November 6, 2026, it sits at the low end for a king upholstered bed.

Best forShoppers furnishing a king bedroom on a tight budgetPeople who want a headboard for sitting up in bedRenters who want a bed that is easy to moveAnyone replacing a box spring with a slatted platform

Pros

King size with an upholstered wingback headboard at a low price
Slats included, so no box spring is needed
Metal frame is lighter and easier to move than solid wood
Wingback sides give some back support when sitting up

Cons

Metal frame and budget upholstery may feel less solid than wood
No box spring included despite the box-spring listing type
Only one store prices it new, so comparison shopping is limited
Assembly required, and slat beds can squeak over time
