Our take on the Asofer Queen Size Heavy Duty Bed Frame with Upholstered Wingback Headboard

The Asofer Queen Heavy Duty Bed Frame is a metal platform bed with a slatted base and an upholstered wingback headboard in linen fabric. It is a frame-only buy: no mattress, no box spring needed. The 60.3 by 81.9 inch footprint fits a standard queen mattress. It is a budget-priced heavy-duty frame aimed at people who want a headboard and a sturdy base in one order.

Questions and answers

Is this frame worth it compared with a wood platform bed?
At its price it undercuts most upholstered wood beds. You trade some warmth of real wood for a metal frame that is easier to move and does not need a box spring.
Do I need a box spring?
No. The frame ships with slats, so a queen mattress sits directly on the base. A box spring would only add height.
Will a standard queen mattress fit?
Yes. The frame is built for a standard queen mattress, roughly 60 by 80 inches. The frame itself measures 60.3 by 81.9 inches, so expect a small lip around the mattress.
How much assembly is involved?
You build the frame and attach the headboard, which typically takes one to two hours with two people. All tools and hardware are usually in the box.
Does it work without a headboard against a wall?
The headboard is part of the frame, so it cannot be removed cleanly. If you want a low-profile look, this is not the frame for that.
When is the best time to buy?
Furniture prices on this frame move around major sales events and at the start of the year. Check the price history before buying rather than assuming the current price is the low.
