Our take on the Nisien Queen Upholstered Platform Bed Frame with Charging Station and Storage Headboard

The Nisien Queen Upholstered Platform Bed Frame is a captain's-style bed with a linen-upholstered metal frame, a storage headboard with a built-in charging station, and two under-bed drawers. It supports up to 1,000 lb and includes slats, so no box spring is needed. The frame measures 76.2 in wide by 86.2 in long, which is wider than a standard queen footprint because of the headboard and drawer clearance. It is a storage-and-charging bed aimed at people who want to skip a nightstand and a box spring.

Pros
  • Two under-bed drawers add storage without a dresser
  • Headboard charging station keeps cables off the floor
  • 1,000 lb weight capacity is high for a metal platform bed
  • Slats included, so no box spring is needed
  • Linen upholstery and captain's styling soften a metal frame
Cons
  • 76.2 in width is wider than a standard queen, so measure the room
  • Drawers need clearance to open and may hit a wall or nightstand
  • Linen upholstery shows stains and needs spot cleaning
  • Charging ports depend on a nearby outlet and cable length
  • Assembly of a slatted metal frame with drawers takes time

Questions and answers

Is this bed worth it over a plain metal platform frame?
If you would otherwise buy a nightstand and a dresser, the drawers and charging headboard can offset the higher price. A plain platform frame is cheaper and takes up less floor space.
Does it need a box spring?
No. Slats are included and the frame is a platform, so a queen mattress sits directly on the slats.
Will a standard queen mattress fit?
Yes, it takes a standard queen mattress. The frame itself is 76.2 in wide and 86.2 in long, so check room clearance beyond the mattress size.
How much room do the drawers need?
Leave clear floor space in front of the drawer side so they can pull out fully. A wall or nightstand in the way will block them.
What is the weight capacity?
The frame is rated for up to 1,000 lb total.
When is it cheapest?
Bed frames usually drop during holiday sales and back-to-school events. Check the price history before buying.
