Our take on the ATN Thor 5 LRF 4-32x 640x480 12 Micron Smart HD Thermal Rifle Scope, 30mm Tube

The ATN Thor 5 LRF is a smart thermal rifle scope built around a 640x480, 12-micron sensor with a 30mm tube and a built-in laser rangefinder. It pairs the thermal image with a ballistic calculator that computes a firing solution once you range a target, and it records video over Wi-Fi to a phone. The 4-32x digital zoom is a big step up from earlier Thor models, though image quality softens as you push magnification. It sits in the premium tier of consumer thermal optics, well above entry-level 384-sensor scopes.

Questions and answers

Is the Thor 5 LRF worth it over a 384-sensor scope?
If you hunt at longer ranges or in open country, the 640x480 sensor gives noticeably more detail and the rangefinder removes guesswork. For close-range work under 100 yards, a cheaper 384 scope does the job.
How far can it detect and identify game?
Detection of large game typically runs several hundred yards, with positive identification at shorter distances. The 12-micron sensor and 640 resolution help, but conditions and target size matter more than the spec sheet.
What is the real battery life?
Expect a few hours of active use with the rangefinder and Wi-Fi recording running. Carry spare batteries for a full night hunt.
Does it fit standard 30mm rings?
Yes, the 30mm tube mounts in standard rings. Check eye relief and rail height before buying, since the unit is fairly long.
What comes in the box?
The scope, a battery, a USB cable and mounting hardware are typically included. Confirm the exact bundle with the seller, since packages vary.
When is it cheapest?
Thermal optics tend to discount around fall hunting season and major sales events. Watch price history rather than buying on impulse.
Where can I buy the ATN Thor 5 LRF 4-32x 640x480 12 Micron Smart HD Thermal Rifle Scope, 30mm Tube?
