Our take on the ATOVANKA M40 Bicycle Rear View Camera

The ATOVANKA M40 is a handlebar-mounted rear-view camera for bicycles. It records 1080p through a 115-degree wide-angle lens and stores footage on an SD card, and it runs on a lithium-ion battery. It is a niche product aimed at riders who want a recorded view behind them rather than a mirror. No current store price was given, so compare listings before buying.

Pros
  • 1080p recording is enough to read plates in good light
  • 115-degree lens covers the lane behind without heavy distortion
  • Handlebar mount keeps it in view while riding
  • SD storage makes clips easy to pull off and review
  • Battery power means no wiring to the bike
Cons
  • 558 g is heavy for a handlebar accessory
  • No price or store listing was provided, so value is unclear
  • Battery runtime and charge time are not stated
  • A camera is not a substitute for a mirror or shoulder check
  • SD card and mount hardware may not be included

Questions and answers

Is the ATOVANKA M40 worth it over a bar-end mirror?
A mirror is cheaper, lighter and needs no charging. The M40 adds a recorded 1080p record of what happens behind you, which matters if you want evidence after a close pass or crash. Buy it for the footage, not as your only rear view.
How long does the battery last?
ATOVANKA does not state runtime for the M40. Expect a few hours per charge from a battery this size, and plan to recharge after longer rides. Check the listing for a confirmed figure before relying on it for all-day touring.
What is included in the box?
The listing describes the camera, handlebar mount and battery but does not confirm an SD card or charging cable. Assume you need to supply a microSD card and check the box contents with the seller.
Does it work as a live rear-view display?
The M40 is listed as a backup-style camera that records to SD. It is not described as a live-view monitor, so treat it as a recorder you review later rather than a real-time screen.
Will it fit my handlebars?
It uses a handlebar mount, and at 12 x 8 x 1.5 cm it should fit standard 22.2 to 31.8 mm bars. Very crowded cockpits or aero bars may need a different clamp.
