Our take on the Avenoir Hair Thinning Shears and Hair Cutting Scissors 6.7 Inches with Fine Adjustable Tension Screw and 1 Piece Wipe Cloth

The Avenoir Hair Thinning Shears are a single 6.7-inch stainless steel thinning scissor with an adjustable tension screw and a small wipe cloth. They are aimed at home trims and light salon or barber use rather than as part of a full cutting set. At $5.99 at Amazon as of November 3, 2026, they sit at the low end of what stainless steel thinning shears cost, and only one store lists them new.

Questions and answers

Is $5.99 a good price for these shears?
Yes. Stainless steel thinning shears usually cost more, and $5.99 at Amazon as of November 3, 2026 is near the bottom of the market. Only one store lists them new, so there is little price competition to wait for.
Are these shears good enough for salon work?
They can work as a backup pair for light texturizing, but a $5.99 shear will not hold a sharp edge like a professional shear. Salons that cut all day should expect to replace them sooner.
What is the difference between thinning shears and regular scissors?
Thinning shears have teeth on one blade that cut only part of the hair in each snip, removing bulk without a visible line. Regular cutting scissors have two straight blades and shorten length.
Can I adjust the tension?
Yes. The adjustable tension screw lets you tighten or loosen the pivot to suit your hand. A light tension is usually better for thinning cuts.
What comes in the box?
One pair of 6.7-inch thinning shears and one wipe cloth. There is no comb, case or second pair included.
Are they suitable for left-handed users?
The listing does not specify handedness, and most budget shears are right-handed. Left-handed cutters should check before buying, since the blade orientation affects the cut.
Where is the Avenoir Hair Thinning Shears and Hair Cutting Scissors 6.7 Inches with Fine Adjustable Tension Screw and 1 Piece Wipe Cloth cheapest?
At Amazon, for $5.99, as of our latest check.
