Pros
  • Low price for a headset with a built-in mic
  • Wired connection needs no charging and adds no latency
  • 32-ohm impedance is easy to drive from a controller or phone jack
  • Over-ear closed cups block some room noise
  • Touch controls on the earcup
Cons
  • Touch controls on a gaming headset are unusual and easy to hit by accident
  • Wired cable limits movement and can snag
  • No stated driver size, surround support or console compatibility
  • On-ear and over-ear are both listed, so fit is unclear
  • No wireless or Bluetooth option

Questions and answers

Is the AP-1000 worth $25?
At $25.33 at Connection as of November 4, 2026, it is a cheap way to get a wired headset with a mic. Expect basic sound and build, not the comfort or clarity of $80 headsets.
Does it work with a PS5 or Xbox controller?
It is a wired headset with a standard 32-ohm load, so it should run from a 3.5 mm controller jack. Check that the plug matches your controller before buying.
Does it need charging?
No. It is wired, so it draws power from whatever it is plugged into and never needs a battery charge.
What is the difference between on-ear and over-ear here?
The listing describes it as both, which is contradictory. Over-ear cups surround the ear; on-ear cups press on it. Confirm the actual cup type with the store if fit matters to you.
When is it cheapest?
The current $25.33 at Connection is already near the bottom of its recent range. Gaming headsets in this class usually drop further around Black Friday and back-to-school sales.
Where is the AVID AP-1000 AVIGA Gaming Headset cheapest?
At Connection, for $25.33, 37% under what the other stores charge, as of our latest check.
Where can I buy the AVID AP-1000 AVIGA Gaming Headset?
12 stores we checked sell it, including Connection, Tecisoft, Encore Data Products, Newegg.com, eBay.
