Is the Bambino plank thick enough for a basement?

Yes. The 5mm SPC core is waterproof and stable in below-grade rooms, and the attached IXPE pad adds a moisture and sound barrier. Just make sure the slab is flat and dry before installing.

How many cartons do I need?

Each carton covers 23.64 sq ft. Divide your room's square footage by 23.64 and add 5 to 10 percent for cuts and waste; a 300 sq ft room works out to about 13 cartons.

Does it need underlayment?

No. The IXPE pad is pre-attached, so you install directly over a flat, clean subfloor. Adding another pad on top can stress the locking joints.

How does the 12mil wear layer compare to 20mil?

12mil suits homes and light commercial use. A 20mil layer lasts longer under heavy traffic, so choose that for busy retail or pet-heavy homes.

Can I install it over existing tile?

Often yes, if the tile is sound, flat and the grout lines are filled level. Check the manufacturer's flatness tolerance first, since the rigid core will telegraph bumps.

When is the price lowest?

Vinyl plank pricing tends to dip during seasonal flooring sales and on full-pallet orders. Compare the per-square-foot price across stores rather than the carton price.

Our take on the Bambino Ganache 12mil 5mm 7x48 SPC Vinyl Plank

The Bambino is Lions Floor's value line of rigid-core SPC vinyl plank, sold in 7-inch by 48-inch planks with a 5mm body and a 12mil wear layer. The stone-plastic core resists moisture and dents, and the IXPE attached pad adds underfoot cushion and sound dampening without a separate underlayment. Planks click together with an angle-angle lock and carry a painted bevel for a wood-plank look. Each carton covers 23.64 sq ft, so a 300 sq ft room needs about 13 cartons plus waste.
