Baybynest Crib Mattress 52x27.5x6 with Tencel-Lyocell Cover

Our take on the Baybynest Crib Mattress 52x27.5x6 with Tencel-Lyocell Cover

The Baybynest is a 52 x 27.5 x 6 inch crib and toddler mattress with gel memory foam and a Eurotop, wrapped in a Tencel-Lyocell cover. The 6-inch profile is thicker than the 4 to 5 inches typical of basic foam crib mattresses, and gel memory foam is meant to sleep cooler than plain foam. At $35 at eBay as of November 8, 2026, it sits at the low end of what a foam crib mattress with a Tencel cover usually costs. Only two stores list it new, so the price is worth checking against the next best offer before buying.

Questions and answers

Is $35 a good price for this crib mattress?

It is low for a 6-inch gel memory foam crib mattress with a Tencel cover; most comparable models sell for well over $100. With only two stores listing it new, check the other offer and the return policy before buying.

Does it fit a standard crib?

Yes. At 52 x 27.5 inches it matches the standard US crib mattress size, and at 6 inches thick it sits within the usual crib rail height. It also fits most toddler bed conversion kits.

Is it firm enough for a newborn?

The listing does not state a firmness rating, and memory foam tends to feel softer than the firm surface infants are usually recommended to sleep on. Ask the seller for the firmness spec before using it with an infant.

Is the cover waterproof?

No waterproof layer is listed. Use a waterproof crib pad or mattress protector under the sheet, especially for toddlers.

What is the cover made of and can it be washed?

The cover is a Tencel-Lyocell blend, which is soft and breathable. Check the care label for washing instructions; Tencel generally tolerates a gentle cold wash and line drying.

Does the foam smell when new?

Foam mattresses often have a slight odor out of the box. Air it out flat in a well-ventilated room for a day or two before making the crib.
