How much coffee does it make?

The carafe holds 0.85 quarts, which BergHOFF calls 6 cups. In practice that is about 3 to 4 standard 8-ounce mugs, so plan on roughly one tablespoon of coarse grounds per cup.

Does it keep coffee hot?

No. The glass carafe has no vacuum insulation, so coffee drops to lukewarm in about 20 to 30 minutes. Pour what you need and transfer the rest to a thermos if you want it hot longer.

Can I use it for tea?

Yes. Loose-leaf tea works the same way: add leaves, steep a few minutes, then press the screen down to stop extraction. Use a coarse grind for coffee and whole or large-leaf tea so the mesh does not clog.

Is it dishwasher safe?

BergHOFF lists the carafe, stainless steel frame and filter as dishwasher safe. The PP lid is best washed by hand to keep the seal and plunger rod in good shape.
