Our take on the Bilt Hard 28 in. 252cc 2-Stage Gas Snow Blower

The Bilt Hard 28 in. is a two-stage gas snow blower with a 252cc engine and a 28-inch clearing path. Two-stage machines use an auger to gather snow and a separate impeller to throw it, so they handle deep drifts and plowed-in driveway ends better than single-stage units. It has an electric start, which means no pull-cord wrestling on cold mornings. The best new price is $1,099.99 at Bilt Hard as of November 4, 2026, and only one store lists it new, so there is little price competition to shop around.

Questions and answers

Is a two-stage blower worth it over a single-stage?
For deep, wet or plowed snow, yes. The second stage throws snow farther and clears drifts a single-stage auger struggles with. For light snow on a short, flat driveway, a single-stage is cheaper and easier to store.
How big a driveway does a 28-inch, 252cc blower suit?
It fits long driveways and wide aprons where a 24-inch machine means extra passes. The 252cc engine is matched to the 28-inch housing, so it holds up in heavy snow without bogging down.
Does it really start without pulling?
Yes, it has electric start, so you plug in or press a starter rather than pull a cord. The engine still needs fresh fuel and normal gas-engine upkeep to start reliably in cold weather.
What is included with the snow blower?
Expect the machine, chute and controls assembled or partly assembled, plus a manual. Check the listing for the exact contents, since a battery or extra auger is not part of a gas two-stage unit.
When is the best time to buy a snow blower?
Prices on snow equipment tend to be lowest in late winter and spring clearance, and highest once the first storm hits. At $1,099.99 at Bilt Hard as of November 4, 2026, only one store lists it, so watch that price rather than comparing stores.
Where is the Bilt Hard 28 in. 252cc 2-Stage Gas Snow Blower cheapest?
