Our take on the Bosch 800 Series HBL8642UC 30" Double Electric Wall Oven

The Bosch 800 Series HBL8642UC is a 30-inch double electric wall oven with true convection in the upper cavity, a self-cleaning cycle and Sabbath mode. It fits a standard 30-inch cutout and stands about 49.7 inches tall, so it suits kitchens replacing an older double oven. The black finish and flush handle design are meant to sit level with Bosch 800 Series ranges and cooktops. Shoppers rate it 3.7 out of 5 from 22 ratings, a middling score for a premium double oven.

Questions and answers

Is the Bosch HBL8642UC worth it over a single oven?
If you regularly cook two dishes at different temperatures, the second cavity earns its keep. For occasional bakers, a single convection oven plus a microwave often costs less and takes less cabinet height.
Does it fit a standard 30-inch cutout?
It is a 30-inch wide double oven about 49.7 inches tall, so it needs a tall cabinet opening sized for a double wall oven. Measure your existing cutout and check the installation guide before ordering.
Is convection in both ovens?
Convection is the headline feature, but on most Bosch double ovens it is concentrated in the upper cavity. Check the spec sheet for the lower oven before you assume both convect.
Does it have Sabbath mode?
Yes. Sabbath mode keeps the oven at a set temperature without the display or lights responding to door openings, which suits households observing the Sabbath.
How does it compare with the 500 Series?
The 800 Series adds a more premium finish and typically more convection coverage than the 500 Series. If you mainly want two ovens and self-clean, the 500 Series can save money.
When is it cheapest?
Double wall ovens usually drop during major appliance sales and holiday weekends. Watch the price history here rather than buying at list.
