Is the Bose 601 IV worth buying in 2026?

Only as a used-market classic. The 601 IV has been out of production for decades, so check the woofer surrounds and tweeter condition before paying. The $1,899 bundle price at HQsing Corp as of November 4, 2026 is high for what is largely vintage speaker technology.

How does the 601 IV compare with the original 601?

The Series IV is a later revision of the same direct/reflecting concept, with two angled tweeters and one 8-inch woofer per cabinet. Later series refined the drivers and crossover, but the basic wide-dispersion character carried through.

What amplifier power do the 601 IV speakers need?

They are reasonably efficient floorstanders and run fine on 30 to 100 watts per channel. The included 3-in-1 amp drives them, and the SW12 sub handles the low end so the speakers do not have to.

Two Bose 601 IV floorstanding speakers, one HQsing SW12 active subwoofer and the 3-in-1 amplifier with optical, Bluetooth and RCA inputs. Speaker cable and sub cable are not confirmed.

Does the system work with a TV?

Yes, through the optical input on the amplifier. There is no HDMI ARC, so TV volume control may need a separate remote.

When is the best time to buy?

With a single new listing at $1,899 as of November 4, 2026, there is no price history to time. Used 601 pairs and separate subs usually cost far less, so compare before committing.
