Our take on the Brentwood 20-Ounce 800-Watt Espresso and Cappuccino Maker

The Brentwood 800-Watt Espresso and Cappuccino Maker is a compact, budget-priced machine with a 20 fl oz water tank and a stainless steel finish. It uses a steam wand to froth milk for cappuccino and lattes, and its small footprint suits tight counters. The 20-ounce tank is small, so expect to refill it every few shots. No current price was provided, so check the latest best price against its recent range before buying.

Best forFirst-time espresso drinkers on a tight budget
Small kitchens and dorm rooms

Occasional use, one or two cups a day
Pros
  • Low price for an espresso machine with a steam wand
  • Compact footprint fits small counters
  • Stainless steel finish looks better than most budget machines
  • Simple manual operation, few controls to learn
  • Steam wand lets you froth milk for cappuccino and lattes
Cons
  • 20 fl oz tank needs frequent refilling
  • 800 watts heats and recovers slowly, so back-to-back shots are slow
  • No built-in grinder, so you need a separate burr grinder
  • Manual steam wand takes practice to get good microfoam
  • Budget build and small portafilter limit shot quality

Questions and answers

Is the Brentwood espresso maker worth it?
It is a reasonable entry point if you want espresso and steamed milk at a low price and drink one or two cups a day. If you want consistent shots or fast back-to-back brewing, spend more on a machine with a larger tank and better temperature control.
How many shots can the 20-ounce tank make?
Expect roughly four to six espresso shots before a refill, fewer if you also steam milk, since the steam wand draws from the same tank. Plan to refill often during a session.
Does it come with a portafilter and tamper?
Most Brentwood espresso makers ship with a portafilter and a small scoop or tamper. Check the box contents on the listing before ordering, since bundles vary.
Can it make cappuccino and latte?
Yes. Pull a shot, then use the steam wand to froth milk. Cappuccino needs more foam, a latte needs less, so the difference is in how long you steam.
How does it compare with a De'Longhi or Breville?
Those machines cost several times more but offer larger tanks, better temperature stability and stronger steam. The Brentwood trades consistency and speed for a much lower price.
When is the best time to buy it?
Budget espresso makers usually drop during Black Friday and holiday sales. Track the price history and buy when it falls below its recent average.
