Is the firm latex topper too hard for side sleepers?

Often yes. Side sleepers and lighter people usually do better with the soft or medium version, since the firm slab gives little shoulder or hip give.

Will it make my mattress feel much firmer?

It adds a firm, supportive layer on top, so a soft or worn mattress feels noticeably harder. It will not fix a mattress that has already sagged badly.

Yes. Latex is open-celled and springy, so it traps less heat than memory foam and suits hot sleepers.

What size is the California king topper?

It measures 84 inches long by 72 inches wide and 3.5 inches thick, matching a standard California king mattress.

Do I need deep-pocket sheets?

Yes. The 3.5-inch height adds bulk, so standard sheets may not tuck; deep-pocket sheets fit better.

Our take on the Brooklyn Bedding Latex Topper Cal King Firm

The Brooklyn Bedding Latex Topper is a 3.5-inch slab of natural latex sized for a California king (84 by 72 inches). It is meant to add firm support and a bit of cushion over an existing mattress, and latex resists sagging better than memory foam. The firm version is the stiffest of the line, so it suits people who want a harder surface rather than pressure relief. Its best new price is $539.50 at The Mattress Shop as of November 7, 2026, the only new price listed.
