Is it actually a lamp?

No. It is a sealed glass sand art piece with no light source. The "desk lamp" wording on the box is misleading.

It stands about 7.09 inches high. That fits a desk, shelf or nightstand but is smaller than a full-size tabletop piece.

Do I need batteries or power?

No. You flip or tilt the glass to move the sand. There is nothing to charge or plug in.

Can I change the sand or refill it?

No. The glass is sealed, so the colors and sand are fixed. If it leaks or cracks, it cannot be repaired.

It works as a low-cost gift for kids, teens or desk workers. Skip it for anyone expecting a lamp or a large statement piece.

Our take on the CAFOLY Moving Sand Art Picture Round Glass

The CAFOLY Moving Sand Art Picture is a round glass desk piece about 7 inches tall. Colored sand and liquid flow between glass panes to form slow 3D landscapes, and you flip or tilt it to start a new scene. It is a decorative object, not a lamp, despite the "3D Sand Desk Lamp" wording on the box. At $22.99 at Amazon as of November 4, 2026, it sits at the low end of what these round sand art pieces usually cost.
