Is the CamelBak Thrive Flip Straw worth it?

At $17.95 at Walmart as of November 4, 2026, it is a reasonable buy for a kid's everyday bottle. You pay for the flip straw and dust cover, not insulation.

Does it keep water cold?

No. The body is uninsulated plastic, so cold water warms up over a few hours and the outside can sweat.

Only with the straw folded down and the dust cover closed. Left open in a backpack, it can leak.

How does it compare with a CamelBak Eddy?

Both are 32-ounce plastic straw bottles. The Thrive adds a pivoting handle and dust cover, while the Eddy is the older, simpler design.

Is it dishwasher safe?

CamelBak rates the bottle body as dishwasher safe on the top rack. Hand wash the lid and straw to keep the valve working.

When is the best time to buy?

Back-to-school season and late fall clearance are when prices drop. The current $17.95 at Walmart is already near the low end.
