Is this a real antique or a reproduction?

It is described as a 19th-century carousel carved wood horse, so it is an antique rather than a new reproduction. Ask Blackman Cruz for the spec sheet and provenance before buying.

How big is it and where can it go?

It measures 31 inches high, 50 inches wide and 10.5 inches deep. Plan for a floor stand or a sturdy wall mount in a hallway, loft or large living room.

Will the horse I receive look like the photo?

No. Each horse is a separate antique, so paint, carving detail and wear will differ from any image shown. Request photos of the specific piece.

What condition should I expect?

Expect age-related wear such as cracks, touch-ups and old repainting, which is normal for 19th-century carousel figures. The technical spec sheet should list known repairs.

How should I ship and care for it?

Use a freight or white-glove mover used to antiques, and keep it out of direct sun and damp. Dust with a dry cloth and avoid harsh cleaners on old paint.

Our take on the CAROUSEL CARVED WOOD HORSE

A genuine 19th-century carousel horse carved from Sabino wood, sold as a one-of-a-kind decorative sculpture by Blackman Cruz. At 31 inches tall and 50 inches wide, it is a large statement piece for a hallway, loft or living room rather than a shelf object. Each horse is an antique, so condition, paint and carving vary from piece to piece, and no two are identical.
