Is this a real carousel horse or a reproduction?

It is a Carousel Works figure dated 1991, so it is a modern carousel horse, not an antique. Carousel Works is a recognized American maker, which gives it collector interest beyond generic decor.

How big is it and how much room does it need?

It is 48 inches tall and 48 inches long. Plan on roughly a 4-by-4-foot footprint plus clearance around the base for the casters.

Can I move it easily?

Yes. The wood base has casters, so it rolls on hard floors. On carpet it will be harder to push, and two people should steady it.

Does it come with the pole and stand?

The listing describes a brass pole and a wood base with casters, so the pole and base are part of the piece. Confirm with the seller that both are included before buying.

Is it safe to keep outdoors?

No. Glass eyes, a horsehair tail and painted wood do not hold up to weather. Keep it indoors, away from direct sun and damp.

When is the best time to buy one?

Carousel figures are a niche market, so supply is thin and prices move with individual listings. Watch for a while and compare against other Carousel Works horses before committing.

Our take on the Carousel Works Carousel Horse

This is a full-size carousel horse made by Carousel Works in 1991, finished in very light dapple gray with an off-white mane and a russet saddle. It stands 48 inches tall and 48 inches long, with glass eyes, a real horsehair tail, a brass pole and a tucked-head stander pose. It sits on a wood base with casters, so it can be moved without a hoist. Carousel Works is a well-known American carousel maker, and its figures are collected as decorative carousel art rather than as ride equipment.
