Is the CCM Tacks AS-560 good for beginners?

It is aimed at intermediate players. True beginners are usually better off with a softer, cheaper entry skate, since the stiff shell takes time to break in.

Can the AS-560 be baked or thermoformed?

No. The boot is not thermoformable, so it will not mold to your foot. Fit depends on choosing the right size and width.

What width is this skate?

This version is a D width, CCM's standard width. Players with wide feet should try it on or size up in width if available.

What is included with the skates?

You get the pair of skates with stainless-steel runners mounted. Sharpening and blade profiling are not included and are usually done at the shop.

When is the AS-560 cheapest?

It is already discounted: $83.99 at The Hockey Connection as of November 7, 2026. Hockey skates typically drop further at end of season and when a new Tacks line launches.

How does it compare to the AS-570 or higher Tacks models?

Higher Tacks models add thermoformable boots, better liners and lighter outsoles. The AS-560 trades those for a lower price while keeping a stiff shell and steel runner.
