Is the Coast HP14 worth it?

For a focusable AA work light, yes. At $45.99 at Planktown Hardware and More as of November 5, 2026, it is at the low end of its recent range, and the Pure Beam focus is the feature you are paying for.

How bright is it and how long does it run?

Coast rates it at 52 lumens on low with up to 56 hours of runtime. High mode is much brighter but drains the four AA cells far faster.

Does it come with batteries?

Yes. Four AA batteries are included in the box, so it works out of the package.

It is water resistant, not waterproof. It handles rain and splashes but should not be submerged.

How does it compare with the Coast HP7?

The HP14 is the larger light: longer body, heavier, and with a bigger reflector for more reach. The HP7 is easier to carry; the HP14 is easier to hold and aim for long stretches.

Its price has stayed near the current $45.99 level across the 6 stores listing it new. Watch for holiday and hardware-store sales, when it has dipped below that.
