Is the Coast PX75 worth it?

At $9.97 at Walmart as of November 5, 2026, it is a low-cost way to get a 400 nm UV light. It suits occasional scorpion checks and leak spotting, not constant professional use.

What wavelength is the UV light?

It emits 400 nm UV. That is close to visible violet, so the beam looks purple, but it still fluoresces scorpions, dyes, and security strips.

What battery does it use?

One AA battery. Carry a spare for long nights, since output drops as the cell drains.

Coast lists it as weather and impact resistant, not waterproof. Rain and splashes are fine; do not submerge it.

The flashlight and clip. Check the listing for whether a battery is included.

It is already near the bottom of its range at $9.97 at Walmart as of November 5, 2026. Watch for holiday tool sales for small further drops.
