Our take on the Cole & Mason Electric Gravity Salt and Pepper Grinder Black

A battery-powered salt and pepper mill that grinds when you tilt it, thanks to a gravity switch. It stands 8 inches tall in a black finish and takes standard batteries. At $21.99 at eBay as of November 4, 2026, it sits at the low end of its recent price range, with only two stores listing it new.

Questions and answers

Is the Cole & Mason electric gravity grinder worth it?
At $21.99 at eBay as of November 4, 2026, it is a cheap way to get hands-free grinding. Cole & Mason is a well-known mill brand, but the 11-rating sample is small, so treat the 4.4 score as a rough guide.
How does the gravity switch work?
Tilt the mill toward the food and the grinder runs; set it upright and it stops. There is no button to hold, so you can season with one hand.
What batteries does it take?
It runs on standard batteries, so keep a spare set in the drawer. Battery life depends on how often you grind, and heavy cooks will replace them more often than occasional users.
Can it grind both salt and pepper?
The listing highlights salt as the top use case, but gravity mills of this type usually handle peppercorns too. Check the box or product page for the exact mechanism before buying if you plan to use it for pepper.
When is the best time to buy it?
With only two stores listing it new, prices move little. The current $21.99 at eBay as of November 4, 2026 is already near the bottom of its recent range, so waiting for a big drop is unlikely to pay off.
Where is the Cole & Mason Electric Gravity Salt and Pepper Grinder Black cheapest?
At eBay, for $21.99, as of our latest check.
What do buyers say about the Cole & Mason Electric Gravity Salt and Pepper Grinder Black?
